The Scale Aviators Flying Model Aircraft facility Canberra Australian National Capital.

The Willie Emmett flying field is located in the Naas Valley in an area just south of Canberra in the Australian National Territory.

The Willie Emmett field is a meeting place for enthusiasts to participate in the enjoyment of flying and displaying examples of scale remote control aircraft.
The location is ideal for both small and large scale examples of Aeromodelleing and scale aviation.
This location has hosted over 28 national events and attracted Aeromodellers from all over Australia.
The Scale Aviators is an Aeromodellers NSW (ANSW) affiliated MAAA club.

The field “ The Willie Emmett Model Flying Field” was named after a prominent Canberra aeromodeller Willie Emmett.

Facilities Available

The flying field is located about 7 kms south of the Namadgi visiter center just out side of Tharwa. The field is within a natural valley that allows the model aircraft to fly under a CASA instrument of approval to a height of 1800 above ground Level (AGL).
The field has been cleared of any obstructions and is predominantly extremely flat.
The setting is within the Namadji national park and provided a wonderful experience for our members and guests.
Camping is available at the field and is an enjoyable experience with the facilities .

Flying Field

The main location provides a large unobstructed flat flying field that is also ideal for WW1 aircraft as taking of is not limited to the runway direction.

Our Mission as The Scale Aviators model aircraft club is to develop a valuable positive social organisation of modelers to promote the building and flying of radio controlled model aircraft.
